4.1 Locate Article

There are several methods which we can use to locate research articles online. This can include when we have a specific research paper in mind or a more general search if we only have an idea of what we are looking for.

This tutorial will focus on finding a specific research paper. The paper in question has the following citation:

A Randomized, Controlled Trial in Children to Assess the Immunogenicity
and Safety of a Thimerosal-free Trivalent Seasonal Influenza Vaccine (2012).
Domachowske, JB et al., The Pediatric Infectious Disease Journal 31(6): 605.

In order to locate this article, we will use scholar.google.com (Google Scholar). Since we already have the citation, our job is pretty easy. We simply go to Google Scholar, copy/paste the article citation into the search bar, and execute our search. You should see a single result:

Clicking the link circled in red above will bring us to the article, so we can begin reading! Note that Google Scholar is best used when a specific paper is in mind. For an overview of other search resources, see Section 9 of the Lab Tutorials packet.
